Serbia: tomorrow National Day of Caritas under the sign of mercy

The National Day of Caritas will be celebrated in Serbia on Saturday, 12 December, under the motto “You did it to me”. The main event for the organisation’s workers and volunteers will be the Eucharistic celebration in the city of Novi Sad presided over by Mgr. Stanislav Hocevar, Archbishop of Belgrade and president of Caritas Serbia. There will also be time for sharing work experiences “in the field”. “Caritas Day this year takes place in the framework of the Year of Mercy that has just begun”, Caritas spokesperson, Ana Zivkovic, told SIR. As she explained, the event logo was inspired by the Papal Bull”. The leaflets of the day contain practical suggestions on how to perform works of mercy. In the Archdiocese of Belgrade, there will be a collection of food, clothes and money for the refugees crossing Serbia. Recyclable material can also be donated: proceedings from the sale will go to the migrants. The Apostolic Exarchate and the Diocese of Subotica are running the project “Children helping children” for minors orphaned by the conflict in Ukraine. In Zrenjanin, students attending religious classes have put their savings in special moneyboxes that they will bring up at the offertory at Mass in the Cathedral of the city.
