Czech Republic: over 450 projects to help migrants registered by Caritas

(Bratislava) Within one month after launching a website dedicated to charitable work and support of migrants and refugees, over 450 individuals and organizations have registered their aid projects for these people in need. “We very much appreciate the efforts of all those who express their solidarity with refugees by offering accommodation, clothes, food, language assistance and other forms of help”, says Klara Boumova, migration coordinator of Caritas Czech Republic, adding that the offers are currently being evaluated and directed to the areas where they can be most useful. “The number of projects is a clear sign of the willingness of our citizens to contribute actively to the solution of the migration crisis”, says Lukas Curylo, director of Caritas Czech Republic, expressing his gratitude to all people of good will who do not want to remain indifferent. There is still an opportunity to register the projects for migrants and refugees on the website supported by the Czech Bishops’ Conference. The national office of Caritas runs eight counselling centers for migrants in the Bohemian and Moravian regions and a “toll-free telephone number” offering counselling services in several languages.
