Belarus: Diocese of Pinsk celebrates 90 years of existence

(Bratislava) – The Diocese of Pinsk is celebrating the 90th anniversary of its foundation and the 145th anniversary of the birth of its first bishop, Mgr. Zygmunt Lozinski, these days. The Bishop of Pinsk, Mgr. Antoni Dziemianko, has written a special pastoral letter on the occasion, praising the tireless pastoral work of the clergy in the past decades, as well as the active approach of Catholics to the life of the Church. “A relationship with God nourished by listening to his Word and a life based on sacraments strengthen Catholic families which serve as schools of faith, hope and love, where young people grow, mature and learn to spread the values through their later work in communities and movements”, the letter reads. Mgr. Dziemianko underlines the importance of involving the lay faithful in the life of the Church and their vocation to fulfil the “mission of evangelization”, inviting them to pay special attention to the forthcoming Year of Mercy and to bear witness to Christian solidarity, love and humility in their everyday life. The prelate also thanked Belorussian state authorities for “understanding the need to deepen spirituality and to spread the Christian culture among the inhabitants of the Diocese of Pinsk”.
